M3 + D2

I created a transition that faded in and created a button which falls from the top of the page
 This is after the animation.

I also gave the previous image stop frame so that at the end of the animation it keeps the current page on/visible. I added the command also to make the button transition to the navigation page.
I also redesigned the Navigation page so it would be brighter and more interesting as the feedback I got with my earlier version said that the Navigation page was quite blank.
This is the page with the buttons on it.

Evaluation

In these amendments I have followed the advice/feedback that Julie has given and have included by adding additional images which I thought would make the navigation page more interesting to fill the blank space. I also made a stop frame so that the introductory screen wouldn't be missed and becomes interactable-more user friendly. This means that the user would have to begin pressing buttons and clicking from the word go and also with newly designed navigation page, the tour would seem much more interesting.

Improvements that could be made are:
  • Now that there are additional images on the navigation, the other pages linked to it look very dull. I could add images which follow a similar theme to liven up each page with relevance to the picture.
  • The Kingswood school logo is still a bit distorted from conversion. I could find or create a better logo which is a vector image/PNG to make it so that it wont get distorted. Alternatively, I could scale a vector version of the image down and save it as a small image rather than have to make the image smaller in Director.
  • Another improvement would be to have ALL of the buttons in this Tour the same colour because some are white and the ones on the navigation page are purple. Even though they are still in the right colour scheme, they shouldn't deviate otherwise the tour will look unprofessional.
  • The cross-hatch designs are still quite simple. I could improve this by adding different shapes, maybe even curving the lines could make it look more intricate.

An example of the improvements I could make in the picture above.

P6

  • Is it fit for purpose? Explain why.
  • Are the media elements appropriate? Give reasons.
  • Does it work without errors or broken links? Screenshot any problems.
  • Is it professional? Explain why.
Iain's virtual tour is very well constructed and is very well fit for the department in the opening screen. This screen has a button which says 'Enter' which obviously implies to click on it. The welcome screen is also illustrated with a tape/movie film and runs an animation which creates the dynamic feel to the media department. This kind of animation is similar to stop frame animation and so is completely related to the department as is the image displayed. There is also a crown logo which indicates the Kingswood School's trademark as a part of this virtual tour. The colours are bright and eye catching although some clash, it could be argued that this is all the more eye catching. The font is dynamic and also interesting because it is circus themed which implies fun and the like.

The rest of the tour is themed brown and red with a woody kind of feel to it. While I would say that this contrasts greatly to the 'Enter' screen and changes the overall theme, the transitions still give the virtual tour some life. This detracts from the professionalism of the original idea: a white background and bright, sharp colours. The text is easy to read and the change of the feel sets in after progressing through the information presented.

All of the content in Iain's virtual tour is made originally by him bar one image which he edited out of another image from the internet and joined to his original in Photoshop.

There are no errors with the links. All of the links allow easy navigation to the corresponding page and when introduced to another section, a transition/animation is played either bringing items into view or making them appear.

This particular page shows a button for additional information. This link functions perfectly well too.

One more feature that could be improved are the buttons. The text used in each box is a different size and the placing is a little bit uneven - so straightening this out and giving the font a size that works for all button boxes would be a major visual improvement.

To top it off - Improvements you should make:

  1. Change either the 1st page to suite the overall theme of the tour or change the rest of the VisualTour to fit the 1st page(Welcome screen).
  2. Work on the text size in the buttons on the left hand side of your VisualTour.
  3. Make the size of the buttons themselves even so that they all line up, it will look more pleasing to the eye this way.
  4. If you are going to use sharp colours that clash, make sure you continue the colour scheme. Also, look out for spelling mistakes - There is one on the second page titled 'Welcome to the media department' in the column of text. Throughout - not 'Through out'.
  5. Some more pictures in your gallery would be nice - maybe how to get there from reception. You could do this by adding a link as you did with the course details and making an additional page which shows how to get to the media department.

P5

This is the gallery of which I linked with script to other pictures located at different frames. The images below are linked to this page above labelled 'Click To View Gallery'. Through this portal the images blow are made available to view.
On each of these pages, there is a 'Next' button which moves the image onto the next.

On this page, there is a button which takes you back to the page which originally takes you to the gallery.

This page shows the frame of which the link it is tied to will go to when the link is clicked on:
On MouseDown
   Go to frame 282
End

 This is the navigation page.
In the top right, there is a button 'Back to Navigation' which takes you back to the navigation page. This is on all pages.
